GREELEY CO: Apartment Complex Parking Lot/Truck Stop – It’s taken me a little bit to write my first blog about my beginning the vanlife. Partially because I’m still trying to get everything moved out of my brother and sister in laws spare bedroom and because I don’t have internet just yet. I am actually typing this on my apple notes right now and will eventually copy and paste it into the post. Anyways, my first couple of nights have been nice, believe it or not. Everyone has been worried about the heat and if I’d be hot but my max flow fan has been great so far! It’s been a little warm to start the nights but I was almost trained for this after living in my pre 1920s apartment in Wichita Kansas during a heat wave that had 40 consecutive days of triple degree heat. At least here in Colorado the temp drops considerably at night.
Outside of temperature, the bed has been comfortable and there hasn’t been anyone knocking on the side or just being bothersome. I imagine some night I’ll get a knock on the side at 3am checking to see that I’m not a creepy guy in a van. I swear I’m one of the normal ones living in a van, no free candy! So 3 days in, doing great, and it hasn’t effected my work. No one would even know I lived in a van if I didn’t tell them. It might interest some of you to know I work a place where a dress shirt and tie are part of the attire. That does add an element of preparedness that most vanlifers don’t need, but I feel it will help keep me honest at the gym since I’ll need daily showers in the morning.
Well I am off to bed for the night. I’ll try to give a vanlife update a couple times a week with where I’m at for the night and any funny stories that have occurred that won’t freak out my mom anymore than she already is. Probably not easy knowing your oldest son is recently divorced and living in a van….at a truck stop.
